When I first went to Disneyland, I was only seven years old, it was my first time overseas with my grandparents. They first went in 1999, I was only 3 years only and wouldn’t have fully appreciated it but now that I was old enough, we went on the trip together. I remember growing up watching the Disneyland travel tapes that my grandparents had from their first trip, they showed all the parades, shows you could see and the amazing things that you could do once you arrived in “The Happiest Place on Earth.” I knew I needed to go, and finally I did.

Walking down main street is where the love began for me, you see the castle at the end of the street, you hear the music that transports you to another time, the horse drawn carriage drives past you further solidifying the new time period. And then you smell it, the most beautiful smell in the world… Popcorn mixed with sugar.

Every aspect is hand crafted, with every intention of making you believe that you have stepped right into a movie set. Even the workers are called cast members to further embed Walt Disney's dream of creating a magical experience.

This is one of the many reasons that I love Disney, every step of the way you are transported to a new place or a different land, filled with new things to see, and do at every corner.

Every time I go back, I get the same feeling every single time, I get to be a kid again. I am able to just be fully myself and everyone is okay with it. When I’m not at Disneyland, I actually feel homesick. I get a feeling right in the pit of my gut that I need to be there and walking around the park. It is my escape. To most people the idea of their escape being a bustling amusement park sounds like a living nightmare but to me its heaven. You get to watch kids meeting their heroes, their favourite princesses are brought to life by amazing actors that genuinely care about these children and want them to experience the Disney magic. Adults meeting their heroes, Iron Man and Spider Man to name a few. I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else in the world. The seven-year-old me is so thankful for my grandparents taking me, as they set alive my deep love for Disney.

Disneyland is my happy place, my laughing place and my home.

Thank you,

Chloe xoxo
